The Colour of Ritual

The Colour of Ritual was a project engaging young people and the general community to learn puppetry, dance and aerial skills as part of the annual Kalbarri Zest Festival. The project involved a series of workshops run by professional artists Melinda Leo, Karen Hethey, Theaker Von Ziarno, Ningali Lawford and Rebecca Millar resulting in a 1.5 hour multi-arts performance at the festival.

Focusing on the cultures of Indonesia, India, and Sri Lanka, the workshops encouraged participants to use an understanding of the cultures to expand artistic expression and have respect for different ways of life. The project also partnered with the Nhanda community to incorporate their creation story into the performance.
