Margaret River is a town in the South West of Western Australia.

Arts and cultural opportunities continue to inspire people from regional Western Australia. The Royalty for Regions Creative Regions program supports Arts Margaret River, a not-for-profit cultural community organisation, to continue involving members of their community in all art forms. The Readers and Writers Festival is one of the organisation’s most successful events and has become the biggest literary event in regional Western Australia. The 3 day event provided an opportunity for artists to meet and talk with their readers.

Arts Margaret River’s event includes the Young Readers and Writers Festival which set a new attendance record with students coming from 17 schools in the region aged between 3 to 17 years. The shared experience among the attendees enhanced the connection within the community and provided inspiration for people of all ages. This in turn helps foster community cohesion and build the economic creative capacity of the region.

“Art and Culture are a critical part of our community fabric and events like this enable, young and old, to learn the value that they hold and be inspired.”

Ian Earl, Augusta Margaret River Shire Council President
